As Mubadala Investment Company's Chief Financial Officer, Carlos is responsible for managing the organization's Business Finance including Treasury and Investor Relations, Financial Planning and Business Performance, and Financial Governance and Reporting.

Before joining Mubadala, Carlos worked with the UAE Offset Program Bureau where he led a wide range of initiatives including privatization, utilities and financial services.

Carlos holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the American University of Beirut, Lebanon, and a Master of Business Administration from INSEAD in Fontainebleau, France.

Highly experienced and motivated team of professionals from diverse backgrounds.

Ibrahim is the Head of Ventures at Mubadala Capital, the wholly owned asset management subsidiary of Mubadala Investment Company, a $284 billion sovereign investor. Ibrahim joined Mubadala in 2006. 
 
In his role, Ibrahim is responsible for leading Mubadala Capital’s ventures strategy with a focus on technology and healthcare. In 2016, Ibrahim launched the ventures platform in San Francisco, and has overseen a cross-discipline team that has invested in over 100 companies. Ibrahim also leads Mubadala’s partnerships with some of the leading technology investors globally. 
 
Prior to launching the ventures platform, Ibrahim built and led Mubadala’s strategy in semiconductors and advanced technology. He is one of the founders of GlobalFoundries, a global semiconductor leader and one of the leading manufacturing companies in the world. Ibrahim started his career working for various companies in Silicon Valley and for Occidental Petroleum in Abu Dhabi.&nbsp; 
 
Ibrahim also serves as co-founder of The Ajami Foundation, a non-profit organization that supports small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) in Lebanon, given the economic and social crisis that the country is facing.&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 
Ibrahim holds a Bachelor’s degree from Northeastern University, and a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Southern California.

Ibrahim Ajami

Alaa Halawa is the Executive Director of Mubadala Ventures, the San Francisco-based venture capital division of Mubadala Capital. He focuses on investing in venture and early growth-stage companies in biotechnology, healthcare technology, and healthcare services.Some of Alaa’s notable investments include Recursion (RXRX), Neumora Therapeutics (NMRA), Exscientia (EXAI), Vir Biotechnology (VIR), Altos Labs, Insitro, Innovaccer, Orca Bio, Unlearn, Paradigm, Alloy Therapeutics, Pretzel Therapeutics, Juvena Therapeutics and EpiBiologics. Alaa serves on numerous boards, including Neumora Therapeutics, Innovaccer, Pretzel Therapeutics and Alloy Therapeutics. 
 
Alaa joined Mubadala in 2009, where he was part of the early team that built Global Foundries, one of the largest semi-conductor manufacturers. Over the course of a decade, he played a pivotal role in transforming Global Foundries into a publicly traded company valued at $30 billion. This journey led him to Silicon Valley in 2011. Subsequently, in 2016, he began building the groundwork for Mubadala Capital's ventures business. 
 
Alaa holds an MBA from Cornell University.

Alaa Halawa 

Ayman joined Mubadala Capital in 2018 and is a San Francisco-based investor at Mubadala Capital – Ventures. In his role, he focuses on early and growth stage investments in technology, healthcare, and life sciences. 
 
Prior to Mubadala, Ayman worked in corporate development at Tecan Group (SWX: Tecan)&nbsp;where he co-managed M&amp;A and equity investment efforts in the US and Europe. He began his career as a management consultant at Accenture, where he helped businesses in Canada and the US solve critical strategy and operational challenges. He has also worked with the hedge fund team at OMERS Capital, where he focused on the intersection of machine learning and event-driven investing. In addition to his investing and consulting background, Ayman’s journey includes operating experience having been involved with a number of startups, including Sentinelle Medical (acquired by Hologics), Pullsar Technologies (acquired by Tecan), and Airo Health (Y Combinator, Summer 2016 batch). 
 
Ayman completed his MBA. and mechanical engineering studies at the University of Toronto where he received the Chalmers award and a fellowship for his engineering research thesis investigating novel Lab-on-a-Chip platforms.

Ayman AlAbdallah

Jonno Elliott is an Investor on the Mubadala Capital Ventures team in Europe. He joined the team in 2022 from the Virgin Group where he spent the past decade working closely alongside Sir Richard Branson in building a portfolio of more than 40 early and growth stage technology-enabled investments. These include Slack, Wise, Square, Twitter, Pinterest, Capsule, Ring, Generate, Blockchain, and Wayve. He also helped build and mange the Group's alternatives and purpose-led investment portfolios. He previously worked at Robeco-Sage Capital in New York, and Beacon Fund Advisors in Tortola. 
 
Jonno is a CFA Charter holder and holds a B Com Honours degree (Financial Analysis &amp; Portfolio Management) from the University of Cape Town, and a B Com degree (Finance &amp; Economics) from the University of Stellenbosch.

Jonno Elliot

Max Holnaicher is a Principal on the Mubadala Capital Ventures team in Europe, where he focuses on vertical software, B2B marketplaces and fintech. His recent investments include HiveMQ and Weavr. Prior to Mubadala Capital, Max worked in investment banking at Torch Partners, where he focused on Mergers and Acquisitions in Technology companies and was VP Finance at a SaaS company. Max has a MSc in Finance from the London School of Economics and BSc in Business &amp; Management from Warwick Business School.

Max Holnaicher

Shaun joined Mubadala Capital in 2018 and focuses on Application Software and FinTech / InsurTech investments, and is based out of San Francisco, CA . He is excited to work with incredibly driven founders who are looking to ask tough questions and challenge the status quo. 
 
Shaun has driven investments in industry-leading companies such as Andalusia Labs, Brex, Cardless, Gabi Insurance (acq. by Experian), Ocrolus, Paceline, SpotOn, and Spotnana. Before joining Mubadala, Shaun was formerly a venture capital investor with Rogers Venture Partners where he focused on early-stage investments across all segments of the technology landscape. 
 
Prior to his career in venture, Shaun was a software &amp; internet investment banker with UBS working on M&amp;A and capital raises. He graduated with honors with a B.S. in Economics from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. In 2021, Shaun was named one of Venture Capital Journal's "40 Rising Stars under 40".

Shaun Lee

Rafic joined Mubadala Capital in 2018 as Chief Technologist. In his role, he oversees the technology strategy for building the company’s investment portfolio. He has diverse experience that spans across academia, government and industry. He is a long-time veteran of the semiconductor field, serving in his most recent position as Executive Fellow of Global Foundries. He began his career in academia, elevating to the rank of tenured Professor of ECE at UNC-Charlotte, and served in administration as Dean of IT at UAE University and VP for Research at Masdar Institute. In government, Rafic served as Head of Strategic Planning of the Abu Dhabi Education Council and senior advisor to the Director General. 
 
Rafic pioneered the iDDT pulse method for testing semiconductor integrated circuits. He has worked on research funded by DARPA, NSF, Intel, IBM, and Carolinas Medical Center, among others, and won several research awards including the 2002 First Citizen Research Scholar Medal and the ALCOA Outstanding Graduate Faculty Award. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Semiconductor Research Corporation and serves on the SemiSynBio consortium and roadmap executive committee. 
 
Rafic is an avid advocate of individuals with special needs and currently serves as a member of the Community and Legacy Committee of the Special Olympics 2019 World Summer Games.

Dr. Rafic Makki

Luke has been part of the Mubadala Capital ventures business since before its launch in 2017. Luke is based in San Francisco and drives investments across our technology focus areas including fintech, insurtech, software and deep tech. Some of his key investments include Gabi, Arbol, Spotnana, C2FO, Ocrolus, Paceline, Welcome Tech and Cardless. 
 
Luke is a long-time veteran of Mubadala, having joined in 2011. He helped to grow the semiconductor business through acquisition, including a period of time as a key member of the corporate development team at GlobalFoundries. Prior to Mubadala, Luke was an investment banker at Goldman Sachs in London where he focused on the healthcare sector. He began his career in his native New Zealand with Goldman Sachs and Ernst &amp; Young.&nbsp; 
 
Luke holds Bachelor of Commerce degree in finance and economics and a Bachelor of Commerce (Hons, 1st Class) in finance, from the University of Auckland, New Zealand.&nbsp;

Luke Nicklin

James Peck is Director of Co-Investment at Mubadala Capital. Prior to joining Mubadala Capital James held investment roles at Richard Bransons family office and Naspers leading their corporate venturing activities in Asia. James started his career in corporate finance before moving to business development and strategy roles at Skype and Amazon. He is responsible for fundraising and strategic partnerships within Mubadala's ventures business and leads the co-investment team syndicating Mubadala Capital's dealflow to LP's and partners globally.

James Peck

Cristina Ghenoiu has over a decade of experience in the biotech and life sciences industries, and most recently was at RA Capital Management, where her primary responsibility was identifying compelling opportunities to help facilitate new company creation and early stage investing. 
 
Cristina trained as a postdoc at The Rockefeller University and holds a PhD in Chromosome and Cell Biology from Cornell University and a Bachelor of Arts in Biochemistry from Mount Holyoke College where she received Magna cum laude and High Honors for a Computational Quantum Chemistry Thesis.

Cristina Ghenoiu

Manas joined Mubadala Capital in 2021. In his role, he focuses on early and growth stage investments in fintech, enterprise software, and other technology verticals. 
 
Prior to Mubadala, Manas was a generalist in growth equity and equity co-investments at Adams Street Partners, a $45bn+ AUM private equity firm based in Chicago. He started his career in mergers and acquisitions and corporate strategy at Molex (a Koch Industries company), where he executed buyside and sellside transactions in medical, automotive, and industrial technology verticals and completed various strategic projects in North America, Europe, and Japan. 
 
Manas completed a B.S. in Physics and B.S. in Finance at the University of Illinois, where he also co-founded a materials science startup and continues to serve as an advisor for the University’s on-campus accelerator program.

Manas Gosavi

Sarah Harney joined Mubadala Capital as Vice President of Finance in 2020. She oversees finance and is responsible for the accounting and financial reporting for the US venture capital office in San Francisco and its funds. Previously, Sarah worked at Top Tier Capital Partners, where she oversaw the accounting and reporting functions for venture capital funds for four years. Prior to that, Sarah worked at Citco Fund Services, a global fund administrator. 
 
Sarah holds a bachelor's degree in Accounting and Economics from Gonzaga University.

Sarah Harney 

Emily comes from three years of experience at Silversmith Capital as a Growth Equity Investor, where she focused on investments in technology and information services segments. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Finance and Operations from the University of Pennsylvania, the Wharton School.

Emily Izmirian

Hasan Kermali joined the Mubadala Capital Finance team in 2021. He oversees the fund finance of the European Ventures Fund and co-invest vehicles, and is responsible for the accounting and financial reporting . Prior to joining Mubadala, Hasan worked at Appian Capital as the Fund Controller working directly with the CFO on the Corporate and Fund accounting functions which saw the firm expand from US$450mn to US$2bn under management. Hasan started his career at EY in Corporate Tax where he obtained his Chartered Accountant qualification.

Hasan Kermali

Glen Kim joined the Mubadala Capital finance team in 2021. He is focused on the accounting and financial reporting for the US venture capital office in San Francisco and its funds. Previously, Glen worked at Top Tier Capital Partners as a senior fund accountant for four years. Prior to that, Glen worked at the Aperio Group as a senior operations associate analyst. 
 
Glen holds a bachelor’s degree in Applied Mathematics from the University of California, Los Angeles.

Glen Kim

Ishan recently completed his JD/PhD in stem cell biology and cellular neuroscience at Stanford. While in graduate school, he published peer-reviewed papers in data science, stem cell biology, and law and economics, including two papers as senior corresponding author in Nature Biotechnology, and coauthored papers in Science Translational Medicine and Cell Stem Cell. His work in law and economics has been cited by the Chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee to the FTC and DOJ. In parallel to his academic efforts, Ishan started and, until recently, ran a data consultancy which served life sciences informatics to several large nonprofits. 
 
&nbsp;Prior to graduate school, Ishan attended Yale University and double majored in Molecular Biology and History, with honors.

Ishan Kumar

Amy joined Mubadala Capital in 2021 and is a San Francisco-based investor at Mubadala Ventures. In her role, she focuses on early and growth stage investments in healthcare and life sciences with a focus on biotechnology companies. 
 
Prior to Mubadala, Amy worked at BridgeBio Pharma (BBIO), a biotechnology company focused on genetic diseases, across various corporate development, business development and M&amp;A roles. Amy began her career as a Senior Research Data Specialist at the University of Pennsylvania and helped to spearhead the development of the largest natural history registry for Castleman disease. She has also worked as a sell side analyst at Evercore ISI covering small and mid - cap biotech companies on the #1 Institutional Investor ranked team. Amy has published in several high impact journals such Blood and The Lancet Haematology and has over 400 citations for her research. 
 
Amy was a graduate of the Vagelos Life Science and Management Program at the University of Pennsylvania and a recipient of the Vagelos Prize for Achievement in Scientific Research for her work on Castleman disease. Amy has a Bachelor of Arts in Biochemistry and a Bachelor of Science in Economics.&nbsp;

Amy Liu

Sofia is Vice President, Platform at Mubadala Capital, overseeing operational initiatives and Mubadala Capital’s Co-investment business. She joined in 2020 from Northzone, a leading European early-stage Venture Capital Fund where she was responsible for marketing, communications and investor engagement. She has previously worked for the Mayor of London and the UK Government promoting London and the UK globally as a destination for high growth technology and life sciences companies. 
 
Sofia holds an LLB from the University of Bristol.

Sofia Lundvall

Stephanie joined Mubadala Capital as a Vice President, Marketing and Community in 2021. She oversees marketing and communications strategies for the EU venture capital investment team and portfolio. Previously, Stephanie worked at the intersection of communications and impact for international organizations including the United Nations and the Clinton Foundation in New York. She also worked for a boutique consulting firm in Washington, DC, where she advised Fortune 500 companies on their policy and CSR strategies. 
 
Stephanie holds a master's degree from the Johns Hopkins University SAIS, and a bachelor’s degree from Brandeis University. She is fluent in French, Dutch, and English.

Stephanie Maneles

Nicole joined Mubadala Capital in 2022, from the Silicon Valley office of leading venture and technology law firm, Cooley LLP. Prior to Cooley, Nicole practiced at Heller Ehrman, a San Francisco-based global law firm, and started her career at the Venture Law Group, a boutique corporate law firm on Silicon Valley’s Sand Hill Road. Nicole has worked on a myriad of transactions, including mergers, acquisitions, spin offs, IPOs, secondary offerings, tender offers, equity financings and debt financings, though most typically she has focused on early-stage equity financings and startups on behalf of technology companies and the funds that invest in them. 
 
Nicole has a B.A. from the University of California, Los Angeles, where she graduated cum laude; and received her J.D. from the University of California, Hastings College of the law, where she graduated magna cum laude and Order of the Coif.

Nicole Orders

Carlos completed his MBA from MIT Sloan School of Management in 2022. He then Co-Founded a Social Consumer App, Kaboom Technologies. 
 
Prior to this, he was part of the European FIG and TMT Investment Banking team for UBS, London, and spent some time with Tier Mobility as a Corporate Strategy &amp; Development Associate. During his MBA, Carlos interned in investing roles with White Star Capital and DST Global. He is a native Spanish speaker and advanced level French.

Carlos de Palacio

Preten Patel is a Senior Associate on the Mubadala Capital Ventures team in Europe. In his role, he focuses on early and growth stage investments across fintech, software and other technology verticals. Recent investments include Klarna and TreasurySpring. Preten started his career at Barclays working in the Investment Banking Division advising corporates, PE and VC on a range of M&amp;A, equity and debt transactions with a focus on fintech, banks, software and e-commerce. He also worked on the Barclays Accelerator programme with Techstars, investing and partnering with early-stage fintech startups. 
 
Preten graduated with a first-class honours degree in Economics from Loughborough University.

Preten Patel

Emre joined us from ClearScore, where he was the Principal Data Engineer. Prior to this, he worked at Railpen as Senior Data Engineer and Quant Developer, and at Accenture as a Senior Consultant and Data Analytics Architect. He holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from King’s College London and studied his Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering at Instabful Industrial University.

Emre Savas

Tobias joined Mubadala Capital in 2023 and&nbsp;is a San-Francisco based investor, focused on healthcare investments. He is supporting our healthcare strategy by expanding our thesis generation in longevity &amp; diseases of aging as well as supporting new investments in biopharma. 
 
He has held several roles in the biotech space, including Swanson Fellow at The Column Group, and Expert in Residence at the Berkeley Life Sciences Entrepreneurship Center.&nbsp; He was a founding member of the Bay Area chapter of Nucleate and helped launch a student-led incubator at Berkeley, UCSF, and Stanford. Tobias is committed to improving diversity and equitable opportunities for underrepresented minorities in STEM. To this end, he launched a mentorship and internship program for high school and community college students who are interested in pursuing careers in the life sciences. 
 
Tobias&nbsp;has a PhD in Neuroscience from the University of California, Berkeley. He graduated with a B.S. in Neuroscience and B.A. in Spanish from the University of Florida. &nbsp;

Dr. Tobias Schmid

Siddig joined Mubadala Capital in 2020 and is a San Francisco-based investor focused on early and growth stage investments across fintech, application software, and web3. Select investments include Arbol, Flip, People.ai, Risk Harbor, Spotnana, and Waymo, amongst other investments. 
 
Prior to joining Mubadala, Siddig was an investment banker at RBC Capital Markets in San Francisco advising biotech companies on mergers and acquisitions and equity transactions. In addition to his investing and advisory experience, Siddig spent time as a manufacturing engineer at a plastic fabrication plant and as a research assistant at SantosHuman, an artificial intelligence / predictive human modeling lab at the Iowa Technology Institute. 
 
He received a B.S.E. in Industrial Engineering and a B.B.A in Finance from the University of Iowa.

Siddig Siddig

Anmol joined Mubadala Capital in 2023, as a San-Francisco based investor, focused on health tech, helping with new investments and supporting portfolio management as well as platform building efforts. 
 
She has held numerous roles in the investment space. Most recently, Anmol was a Healthcare Investment Banker at Goldman Sachs, where she focused on M&amp;A and capital markets transactions in digital health, med-tech, biopharma, and healthcare services. Prior to Goldman Sachs she was at the Boston Impact Initiative Fund and EY-Parthenon.&nbsp; 
 
Anmol has a Masters in Finance from Brandeis International Business School.&nbsp;In her free time, she enjoys swimming and paragliding.

Anmol Vasandani

Marina Walker joined Mubadala Capital as Vice President of Finance in 2021. She oversees finance function and is responsible for the corporate accounting and financial reporting for the EU Ventures Capital office in London and finance, accounting and regulatory reporting of Mubadala Capital investment manager. Previously, Marina worked at Mirabaud Asset Management, where she oversaw the accounting and reporting function of its London office for 3 years. Prior to that, Marina worked for a number of various hedge funds predominantly in financial control functions. Marina holds ACCA fellowship and a Bachelor Degree in Accounting and Finance.

Marina Walker

Joshua joined Mubadala Capital in 2024 and is a San Francisco-based investor focused on early and growth-stage investments across biotech, technology, and cybersecurity. Prior to Mubadala, Joshua was an investment banker at Centerview Partners, where he played a key role in advising on mergers and acquisitions, including three $1bn+ transactions. He also supported Centerview's emerging cybersecurity practice, conducting in-depth research to drive new business development. Joshua graduated from the University of Chicago with a B.S. in Economics and a B.S. in Computer Science.
