Before joining Mubadala, Carlos worked with the UAE Offset Program Bureau where he led a wide range of initiatives including privatization, utilities and financial services.

Ibrahim is the Head of Ventures at Mubadala Capital, the wholly owned asset management subsidiary of Mubadala Investment Company, a $284 billion sovereign investor. Ibrahim joined Mubadala in 2006. 
 
In his role, Ibrahim is responsible for leading Mubadala Capital’s ventures strategy with a focus on technology and healthcare. In 2016, Ibrahim launched the ventures platform in San Francisco, and has overseen a cross-discipline team that has invested in over 100 companies. Ibrahim also leads Mubadala’s partnerships with some of the leading technology investors globally. 
 
Prior to launching the ventures platform, Ibrahim built and led Mubadala’s strategy in semiconductors and advanced technology. He is one of the founders of GlobalFoundries, a global semiconductor leader and one of the leading manufacturing companies in the world. Ibrahim started his career working for various companies in Silicon Valley and for Occidental Petroleum in Abu Dhabi.&nbsp; 
 
Ibrahim also serves as co-founder of The Ajami Foundation, a non-profit organization that supports small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) in Lebanon, given the economic and social crisis that the country is facing.&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 
Ibrahim holds a Bachelor’s degree from Northeastern University, and a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Southern California.

Ibrahim Ajami

Alaa Halawa is the Executive Director of Mubadala Ventures, the San Francisco-based venture capital division of Mubadala Capital. He focuses on investing in venture and early growth-stage companies in biotechnology, healthcare technology, and healthcare services.Some of Alaa’s notable investments include Recursion (RXRX), Neumora Therapeutics (NMRA), Exscientia (EXAI), Vir Biotechnology (VIR), Altos Labs, Insitro, Innovaccer, Orca Bio, Unlearn, Paradigm, Alloy Therapeutics, Pretzel Therapeutics, Juvena Therapeutics and EpiBiologics. Alaa serves on numerous boards, including Neumora Therapeutics, Innovaccer, Pretzel Therapeutics and Alloy Therapeutics. 
 
Alaa joined Mubadala in 2009, where he was part of the early team that built Global Foundries, one of the largest semi-conductor manufacturers. Over the course of a decade, he played a pivotal role in transforming Global Foundries into a publicly traded company valued at $30 billion. This journey led him to Silicon Valley in 2011. Subsequently, in 2016, he began building the groundwork for Mubadala Capital's ventures business. 
 
Alaa holds an MBA from Cornell University.

Cristina Ghenoiu has over a decade of experience in the biotech and life sciences industries, and most recently was at RA Capital Management, where her primary responsibility was identifying compelling opportunities to help facilitate new company creation and early stage investing. 
 
Cristina trained as a postdoc at The Rockefeller University and holds a PhD in Chromosome and Cell Biology from Cornell University and a Bachelor of Arts in Biochemistry from Mount Holyoke College where she received Magna cum laude and High Honors for a Computational Quantum Chemistry Thesis.

Cristina Ghenoiu

Ayman joined Mubadala Capital in 2018 and is a San Francisco-based investor at Mubadala Capital – Ventures. In his role, he focuses on early and growth stage investments in technology, healthcare, and life sciences. 
 
Prior to Mubadala, Ayman worked in corporate development at Tecan Group (SWX: Tecan)&nbsp;where he co-managed M&amp;A and equity investment efforts in the US and Europe. He began his career as a management consultant at Accenture, where he helped businesses in Canada and the US solve critical strategy and operational challenges. He has also worked with the hedge fund team at OMERS Capital, where he focused on the intersection of machine learning and event-driven investing. In addition to his investing and consulting background, Ayman’s journey includes operating experience having been involved with a number of startups, including Sentinelle Medical (acquired by Hologics), Pullsar Technologies (acquired by Tecan), and Airo Health (Y Combinator, Summer 2016 batch). 
 
Ayman completed his MBA. and mechanical engineering studies at the University of Toronto where he received the Chalmers award and a fellowship for his engineering research thesis investigating novel Lab-on-a-Chip platforms.

Jonno Elliott is an Investor on the Mubadala Capital Ventures team in Europe. He joined the team in 2022 from the Virgin Group where he spent the past decade working closely alongside Sir Richard Branson in building a portfolio of more than 40 early and growth stage technology-enabled investments. These include Slack, Wise, Square, Twitter, Pinterest, Capsule, Ring, Generate, Blockchain, and Wayve. He also helped build and mange the Group's alternatives and purpose-led investment portfolios. He previously worked at Robeco-Sage Capital in New York, and Beacon Fund Advisors in Tortola. 
 
Jonno is a CFA Charter holder and holds a B Com Honours degree (Financial Analysis &amp; Portfolio Management) from the University of Cape Town, and a B Com degree (Finance &amp; Economics) from the University of Stellenbosch.

Manas joined Mubadala Capital in 2021. In his role, he focuses on early and growth stage investments in fintech, enterprise software, and other technology verticals. 
 
Prior to Mubadala, Manas was a generalist in growth equity and equity co-investments at Adams Street Partners, a $45bn+ AUM private equity firm based in Chicago. He started his career in mergers and acquisitions and corporate strategy at Molex (a Koch Industries company), where he executed buyside and sellside transactions in medical, automotive, and industrial technology verticals and completed various strategic projects in North America, Europe, and Japan. 
 
Manas completed a B.S. in Physics and B.S. in Finance at the University of Illinois, where he also co-founded a materials science startup and continues to serve as an advisor for the University’s on-campus accelerator program.

Max Holnaicher is a Principal on the Mubadala Capital Ventures team in Europe, where he focuses on vertical software, B2B marketplaces and fintech. His recent investments include HiveMQ and Weavr. Prior to Mubadala Capital, Max worked in investment banking at Torch Partners, where he focused on Mergers and Acquisitions in Technology companies and was VP Finance at a SaaS company. Max has a MSc in Finance from the London School of Economics and BSc in Business &amp; Management from Warwick Business School.

Shaun joined Mubadala Capital in 2018 and focuses on Application Software and FinTech / InsurTech investments, and is based out of San Francisco, CA . He is excited to work with incredibly driven founders who are looking to ask tough questions and challenge the status quo. 
 
Shaun has driven investments in industry-leading companies such as Andalusia Labs, Brex, Cardless, Gabi Insurance (acq. by Experian), Ocrolus, Paceline, SpotOn, and Spotnana. Before joining Mubadala, Shaun was formerly a venture capital investor with Rogers Venture Partners where he focused on early-stage investments across all segments of the technology landscape. 
 
Prior to his career in venture, Shaun was a software &amp; internet investment banker with UBS working on M&amp;A and capital raises. He graduated with honors with a B.S. in Economics from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. In 2021, Shaun was named one of Venture Capital Journal's "40 Rising Stars under 40".

Shaun Lee

Amy joined Mubadala Capital in 2021 and is a San Francisco-based investor at Mubadala Ventures. In her role, she focuses on early and growth stage investments in healthcare and life sciences with a focus on biotechnology companies. 
 
Prior to Mubadala, Amy worked at BridgeBio Pharma (BBIO), a biotechnology company focused on genetic diseases, across various corporate development, business development and M&amp;A roles. Amy began her career as a Senior Research Data Specialist at the University of Pennsylvania and helped to spearhead the development of the largest natural history registry for Castleman disease. She has also worked as a sell side analyst at Evercore ISI covering small and mid - cap biotech companies on the #1 Institutional Investor ranked team. Amy has published in several high impact journals such Blood and The Lancet Haematology and has over 400 citations for her research. 
 
Amy was a graduate of the Vagelos Life Science and Management Program at the University of Pennsylvania and a recipient of the Vagelos Prize for Achievement in Scientific Research for her work on Castleman disease. Amy has a Bachelor of Arts in Biochemistry and a Bachelor of Science in Economics.&nbsp;

Amy Liu

Rafic joined Mubadala Capital in 2018 as Chief Technologist. In his role, he oversees the technology strategy for building the company’s investment portfolio. He has diverse experience that spans across academia, government and industry. He is a long-time veteran of the semiconductor field, serving in his most recent position as Executive Fellow of Global Foundries. He began his career in academia, elevating to the rank of tenured Professor of ECE at UNC-Charlotte, and served in administration as Dean of IT at UAE University and VP for Research at Masdar Institute. In government, Rafic served as Head of Strategic Planning of the Abu Dhabi Education Council and senior advisor to the Director General. 
 
Rafic pioneered the iDDT pulse method for testing semiconductor integrated circuits. He has worked on research funded by DARPA, NSF, Intel, IBM, and Carolinas Medical Center, among others, and won several research awards including the 2002 First Citizen Research Scholar Medal and the ALCOA Outstanding Graduate Faculty Award. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Semiconductor Research Corporation and serves on the SemiSynBio consortium and roadmap executive committee. 
 
Rafic is an avid advocate of individuals with special needs and currently serves as a member of the Community and Legacy Committee of the Special Olympics 2019 World Summer Games.

Luke has been part of the Mubadala Capital ventures business since before its launch in 2017. Luke is based in San Francisco and drives investments across our technology focus areas including fintech, insurtech, software and deep tech. Some of his key investments include Gabi, Arbol, Spotnana, C2FO, Ocrolus, Paceline, Welcome Tech and Cardless. 
 
Luke is a long-time veteran of Mubadala, having joined in 2011. He helped to grow the semiconductor business through acquisition, including a period of time as a key member of the corporate development team at GlobalFoundries. Prior to Mubadala, Luke was an investment banker at Goldman Sachs in London where he focused on the healthcare sector. He began his career in his native New Zealand with Goldman Sachs and Ernst &amp; Young.&nbsp; 
 
Luke holds Bachelor of Commerce degree in finance and economics and a Bachelor of Commerce (Hons, 1st Class) in finance, from the University of Auckland, New Zealand.&nbsp;

Luke Nicklin

Preten Patel is a Senior Associate on the Mubadala Capital Ventures team in Europe. In his role, he focuses on early and growth stage investments across fintech, software and other technology verticals. Recent investments include Klarna and TreasurySpring. Preten started his career at Barclays working in the Investment Banking Division advising corporates, PE and VC on a range of M&amp;A, equity and debt transactions with a focus on fintech, banks, software and e-commerce. He also worked on the Barclays Accelerator programme with Techstars, investing and partnering with early-stage fintech startups. 
 
Preten graduated with a first-class honours degree in Economics from Loughborough University.

Siddig joined Mubadala Capital in 2020 and is a San Francisco-based investor focused on early and growth stage investments across fintech, application software, and web3. Select investments include Arbol, Flip, People.ai, Risk Harbor, Spotnana, and Waymo, amongst other investments. 
 
Prior to joining Mubadala, Siddig was an investment banker at RBC Capital Markets in San Francisco advising biotech companies on mergers and acquisitions and equity transactions. In addition to his investing and advisory experience, Siddig spent time as a manufacturing engineer at a plastic fabrication plant and as a research assistant at SantosHuman, an artificial intelligence / predictive human modeling lab at the Iowa Technology Institute. 
 
He received a B.S.E. in Industrial Engineering and a B.B.A in Finance from the University of Iowa.
